We can all agree that actors Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt have incredible chemistry onscreen, their acting is so real that some fans were apparently convinced that they were actually a “married couple with two children”.
The duo recently sat down for an interview with Nida Yasir, who asked Ali about the most intriguing rumor she has heard about herself.
Ali revealed that shortly after their second project together, Aunn Zara’s poster was released, she got a surprising call from her mother while she was out of town for work. “Did you get married? To that Osman guy? How could you? Why didn’t you tell me?” shared Ali as she laughed hysterically recalling it. The said poster showed the two in a bride and groom costume which started the rumor mills.
“Basically, a fan mischievously added onto a Wikipedia page that we’re married with two children,” added Butt. Speaking on how serious the rumor went, Ali added, “Once at an award show, we were sitting together and an aunty congratulated us and complimented the jodi (couple) we made”.
“All of which was fine because we got those for the dramas we did together. But later, she also gave us blessings and wishes for our kids and that was when we realized people actually believe in that rumor,” she added. They eventually laughed it off together.
Not a real-life couple, but definitely besties
Besides getting along well as co-actors, the duo found the best mates in each other as they started their journeys in the showbiz industry together. The host asked both of them about the qualities they liked in each other to which Butt jokingly said, “How much time do you have, Nida? Come on, Maya, start the list.”
Ali responded that she has repeatedly mentioned how grateful she is for Butt’s friendship and that she cannot describe his value in her life in a word. But she went on to add a few qualities that she admires about her friend.
“He makes people comfortable easily. There’s no ego in him, even now. He guided me a lot while we worked on our second project about acting, body language, and script since he’s a writer as well. Sometimes I just stop and think about how we have such a talented person amongst us in this industry. You can never be bored in his company.”
Butt also shared what the friendship meant to him in his initial days in the industry as an introvert. “I always appreciated Maya from afar because she’s true to her words. Her actions and words matched each other. She’s headstrong and independent and these are some attractive qualities to have,” said Butt. “And when we became friends, our sense of humor matched a lot and that was the start of an ever-lasting friendship.”
