We all are aware of how celebrities are always under the spotlight. May it be due to their upcoming drama serial or film, some controversial post, a statement regarding a matter, or simply because they are a celebrity. With the positive vibes of love and admiration from the fans; they also become vulnerable to the ugliness of the social trolling and getting body shamed.

Mariam recently appeared in The Mazedaar Show hosted by Faizan Sheikh and Adeel Amjad. When asked about why she decided to become a fitness trainer, the actor opened up about how she became a target of body shaming.

‘I was body shamed a lot’

“I did a film [Halla Gulla] and after that, I was body shamed a lot,” said Mariam. “A person looks wide on the bigger screen, and that is when I decided to join the gym.”

“I lost a lot of weight and then it became my passion and lifestyle,” added the actor. “I also used to give people free advice related to workouts and weight loss. So, people thought I am professionally working in this field but I was not at that time.”

“I love doing it, and it is good for your mind, health, and body. InshAllah I and my husband are planning to open our own space. We are planning to open a fitness and daycare center.”

The Romeo Weds Heer actor tied the knot with Pakistani cricket coach Moin Khan’s son Owais Khan earlier this year.

Body shaming is very common, especially when it comes to those in the spotlight. Previously, Mawra Hocane became a target of the same due to her weight loss. Taking to Instagram, Mawra posted a picture of herself, talking about how quarantine caused her to lose so much weight, clearly sharing how she is upset over it. But the netizens could not help it and body shamed Mawra.

From calling her ungrateful and not beautiful anymore to labeling her as a skeleton, people kept on body shaming her to a point that she was forced to delete her post. It is about time people stop body shaming.
