Man Sent to Jail for Marrying Again Without Asking First Wife

A man has been sentenced to jail for getting married again without asking his first wife first. The court, led by Judge Adnan Liaquat, has given him a seven-month prison term and a hefty fine of Rs500,000. This decision came after an application was filed by Zona Nasar with legal representation from Barrister Usman G. Rashid Cheema, emphasizing the importance of following legal procedures.

Pakistan court makes historic ruling against second marriage without spousal consent. This ruling echoes a significant law enacted in 2017, requiring written permission from the first spouse before entering into a second marriage.

Muhammad Aurangzeb Khan, the accused, was found to have violated Section 6(5) of the Muslim Family Law Ordinance, which requires written permission from the first spouse before entering into a second marriage. Despite his claims of verbal consent and allegations regarding his first wife’s medical condition, the court ruled against him.

This verdict serves as a reminder that individuals considering remarriage must navigate legal requirements diligently. Failure to do so, as demonstrated in this case, can lead to serious legal consequences.
