The youngest Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who virtually graduated from Oxford University, now seems to be ‘officially graduated’ after her father Ziauddin Yousafzai shared a few pictures of the youngster, clad in a graduating gown.
The activist can be seen posing for the camera with her parents and husband, Asser Malik. Her father captioned the images with, “A moment of joy and gratitude. Malala officially graduates from Oxford University.”
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old also took to Twitter to share her graduation pictures. “Some Latin was said and apparently I have a degree,” she wrote.
Congratulatory messages on social media poured in from around the world for Malala.
It may be recalled that Malala attended the virtual graduation ceremony of class 2020 in June last year. The activist was also part of the popular lineup in the YouTube original, Dear Class of 2020. Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, and many other stars came together to celebrate the graduates.
YouTube shared a 12-second clip of Malala from the special virtual commencement ceremony.
Malala’s address to the class of 2020
“Don’t be defined by what you lose in this crisis but by how you respond to it,” the Nobel Prize laureate shared. “You have gained your education, now it is time that you go out and use it for the betterment of the world. Congratulations to the class of 2020.”
The virtual commencement event brought together inspirational leaders, celebrities, and YouTube creators to celebrate graduates, their families, and their local communities.
Other than the Obamas and Malala, the event included the popular K-Pop band BTS. It brought the Dear Class Of 2020 YouTube event to a roaring close with a 12-minute performance of three-hit songs.
Other stars in the event included Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift.
Have a look at it:
Following Malala’s wedding announcement recently, many criticized her choice to marry early and cited her Vogue interview. The 24-year-old had expressed reservations about getting married to someone instead of opting for partnership.
In an interview with the same publication, the activist then came forward to clarify her previous position on marriage. Additionally, she shed light on what caused her to change her mind.
