Madonna Opens ‘Dream Model Street School’ in Karachi

In 2013, Madonna informed the media that she is working on raising money to expand a school in a poor area, located on the suburbs of Karachi.

The pop diva and social enthusiast, Madonna used Twitter and Instagram to announce the opening of ‘Dream Model Street School’ in Karachi that she pledged to help expand, in 2013.

The caption of the Instragram reads:

“The Revolution of Love continues in Pakistan! The Dream School is finally finished. 1,200 kids attending. Knowledge is Power! #rayoflight #livingforlove.”

Live concert in London, the pop queen went on stage and publicized that through her Ray of Light Foundation is she is supporting girls’ education in Pakistan. She also insisted people to support her cause.  Humaira Bachal, a Karachi based education activist Karachi later joined her on stage.

Madonna has long talked about her respect and admiration for Humaira Bachal, who has been battling for providing better quality education for young girls in Pakistan.

Supporting Bachal, Madonna at the Chime For Change event (2013)in London said, “Let’s help Humaira build a bigger school in Pakistan! How ‘bout this? You build the first floor, I’ll build the rest of the school. Let’s do this together!”

In a statement she said:

“I want to trade something valuable for something invaluable – educating girls,”.

Founded by Dream Foundation Trust (A Pakistani Non Profit Organization), The Dream Model Street School is situated in Mawach Goth, Karachi. It was established in 2005 and has reportedly taught over 2000 students.
