Tharparkar is a multi-cultural district located in the southeast of Sindh, with approximate 1.5 million of the population, having Mithi as its capital city. It is mostly a deserted area consisting of arid sand dunes with mushy land consider as the largest desert of Pakistan while covering 22,000 square kilometer area.
The last few years have served to bring the death of children, the situation of famine/drought has created serious living problems for the community members of Tharparkar. According to an estimation, more than 57% of malnourished children in Tharparkar are stunned, more than thousands of children die every year due to the lack of proper household facilities.

Recently, UN released a report in which it is mentioned that there will be a possibility of a “Humanitarian emergency” in Tharparkar due to a lack of rain water. “Sone pe suhaga” besides this, no food assistance has been provided in Tharparkar by the Sindh Government for the last six months.

A district where more than 80% of the schools are closed with no wall boundaries and toilet facilities, more than 5000 teachers resigned for not getting any payment, literacy rate among female is 6.9% and approx 50% of the youth in the district lack of vocational training and most importantly Doctors are in a protest over the matter of regularization of their job.
