Lailatul Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) in Islam is considered to be the most sacred of all nights in terms of Divine Graciousness and Benignity. Various other titles attribute to this night that all relate to its sanctity. Night of Power, Night of Decree, Night of Value, Night of Destiny, or Night of Measures are its equivalents in the English language.
Lailatul Qadr derives its importance from the fact that our Holy Prophet (PBUH) received his first revelation this very night while he was in seclusion in Cave Hira. Lailatul Qadr 2019 this year calls for putting in additional efforts in the Almighty’s way. Bowing down before the Creator the entire night up to Sehri is an auspicious means of obtaining Allah’s Generosity and Benevolence.

Proofs From The Holy Quran And Prophetic Ahadith
Lailatul-Qadr or Night of Power denotes a very crucial occasion in the history of Islam as well as in our personal lives. Each year, when the Night of Qadr occurs, great angels and great mercies alight to earth.
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
“We have indeed revealed this (message) in the Night of Power. And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the angels and the spirit by God’s permission, on every errand: Peace! This until the rise of Morn.” (Surah Qadr: 1-5)
Allah also says about this powerful night in the following words:
“Ha. Mim. By the book that makes things clear. We sent it down during a blessed night. For We (ever) wish to warn (against evil). In that (night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom, by command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), as a mercy from Thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things).”(Surah Dukhan: 1-6)
Offering Nafils In Lailatul Qadr: Way To Brotherhood and Unity
It is narrated by Abu Huraira that Prophet (PBUH) said,
“Anyone who stays awake for the Night Of Power with belief and for the pleasure of Allah, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
It has also been reported by Hazrat Ayesha (RA), the wife of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH):
“I asked the Messenger Of Allah if I knew which night was the Night of Power and what Prayer I should say during that night? He said to me: Say: “O Allah! You are forgiving and you love forgiveness, so you too forgive me.””
The Benefits and Rewards of Lailatul Qadr 2019 (Night of Power)
The Associated Routine
As on the other days of Ramadan, the fasting Muslims abstain from eating, drinking or indulging in sexual relations during the daylight hours on Lailatul Qadr. They do make an extra effort to pray for forgiveness and recite the Holy Quran during the last 10 days of Ramadan. This is viewed as a period when prayers are answered and blessings are plentiful. Good and noble deeds are also performed during this time, as it is a night of pardon. Muslims also believe that Lailatul Qadr is the time when Allah reveals their fates for the entire year.
