Labor Day here celebrates those people who make the world possible. Labor hasn’t been always appreciated and has been highly discriminated against throughout history. Labor Day wasn’t always an institutionalized day but has its unique history taking us to the USA.

Peter McGuire and Mathew Maguire are the two most prominent figures in the history of Labor Day. Both were prominent activists in the 19th century. The first Labor Day parade took place in 1882 in New York and was recognized as an official holiday in 1882.
Peter McGuire is known to have coined this idea to the Brotherhood of Carpenters in 1881 while he is also known to have persuaded major labor unions throughout the USA at the time.

Mathew Maguire is known for his efforts for the cause. A mechanist and the vice-president nominee of the socialist labor party in 1886. He is known to have sent an invitation for the first Parade and is known to lead it along with his wife.
It is a debate as to who is the true father of Labor Day however the institutionalization of this idea couldn’t have been possible without these two dominant figures.
