Karim Benzema Performs Umrah

Karim Benzema, Al Ittihad captain, and Ballon d’Or winner, has had a fantastic season in the Saudi Po League and is enjoying his time there. The famous athlete, a devoted Muslim, posted a video of himself conducting Umrah in Makkah early Monday.

While sharing the video on his Instagram and X platforms, the former Real Madrid footballer said: “Mashallah, the best of the best. Alhamdulillah [praise be to God].”

Benzema filmed the video while circumambulating or completing Tawaf (seven anti-clockwise rounds of the Kaaba while dressed in an ihram (white garment). In French, he captioned the photo, “Very happy.” Millions of people saw the video.

This is not the first time Benzema performed Umrah. In 2016 he visited Saudi Arabia and completed the pilgrimage.

Sadio Mane Also Performed Pilgrimage

Sadio Mane, a newly recruited Al Nassr player, also undertook the Umrah pilgrimage barely hours after making his debut for the club on Thursday, August 3.

In a viral video, Mane was shown embarking on this voyage with several of his Muslim colleagues, including former RC Lens captain Seko Fofana.

Saudi Arabian football teams have recruited many significant names, beginning with Cristiano Ronaldo last year and continuing with Karim Benzema, Jordan Henderson, and Sadio Mane this year, despite attempts to attract Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

According to one of its senior administrators, the Saudi Pro League is “determined to be a success” and will continue to recruit some of the greatest names in sports.

Apart from Ronaldo, Al Nassr has signed Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, Brazil full-back Alex Telles, and Ivory Coast midfielder Seko Fofana this summer.
