On Tuesday, a 22-year-old girl was found dumped unconscious in front of a local mall in Clifton Karachi after being gang-raped. According to the details given by the girl, she was sexually abused throughout the night after she was kidnapped.
The police said the incident took place on Monday night and the woman lodged an FIR on Tuesday. However, no arrest was made till late in the night. In addition to this, the police officials have not disclosed the victim’s identity but told that the girl was an employee of a private organization.
As per the reports, her friend dropped her off near a Clifton mall. Subsequently, two men traveling in a Vigo kidnapped her from the area at 9:30 pm. She was then reportedly taken to a flat and over there was subjected to sexual violence.
The victim said she was waiting for a bus to go home when three men, onboard a vehicle, abducted her, according to police. After having gang-raped the girl, the suspects dumped her at the spot where they kidnapped her outside a clifton mall. Later, the girl went to her house following the incident.
In addition to this, the police said that the victim filed a report a day after the incident. She called the police 15 helpline and informed the police of the incident. Initial reports suggest that the victim’s family was shying away from pursuing the case.

Zahida Perveen, the Assistant Superintendent of Police (SSP) said a complaint has been lodged and the girl will be sent for medico-legal to ascertain the claim. The DNA tests of the victim have also been conducted from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Later, the medical examination of the woman was conducted and it was confirmed that she was subjected to a sexual assault. Also, the police lodged an FIR against three accused. Two of them assaulted her after kidnapping her, while the third one facilitated them, the police confirmed.
As of now, concerted efforts are underway to arrest the culprits. Perveen, who accompanied the girl, added three men allegedly gang-raped her and dumped her in a Clifton park after she was rendered unconscious.
Reportedly, the CCTV footage of the radius where she was found is being ushered to probe and establish how she ended up there. According to sources, the police have obtained all the CCTV footage from cameras installed in the mall and surrounding areas to probe the case.
The officer said the police had got significant clues about the identity of the rapists and hoped that they would be arrested soon. The police have also conducted raids at the houses of the suspects’ relatives. So far, the suspects have managed to evade the police.
How pathetic and disappointing it is to see the government not doing enough to stem violence against women, including ensuring perpetrators are held accountable. This tragic gang-rape incident followed by the motorway rape case and gang-rape of a woman in search of a job has wreaked havoc on the entire nation.
