Karachi Airport Now a Red Zone Due to Security Concerns

Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport is now called a red zone because of security worries after a recent deadly blast nearby. This step is to make sure everyone is safe, according to ARY News.

Limited Access for Safety:

Police have made the routes to the airport more secure, allowing only certain people to enter. Only those who are dropping off or picking up passengers with valid tickets and ID will be allowed inside the red zone. Airport staff and people on official business can also enter.

Extra Security Measures:

To make the airport safer, police have set up five new check posts around it. These checkpoints will have police officers on duty all day and night. Officers will check people and vehicles carefully to prevent anything suspicious from happening.

Advice for Passengers:

Travelers are told to come to the airport well before their flight to avoid any delays due to these new checks.

Details About the Recent Blast:

This increase in security comes after a terrorist attack that targeted Chinese nationals near the airport, resulting in the deaths of two Chinese citizens and injuries to others. The attack was planned with help from inside the airport.

Investigation Findings:

Authorities later identified the suicide bomber involved. Investigators found two of his fingers at the blast site and used them to confirm that the attacker was Shah Fahad through NADRA’s records.

Further investigation showed that Fahad and two partners arrived in Karachi on December 3, 2023, and checked into a hotel at 7:49 p.m. in the Preedy area. Fahad returned to Karachi on October 4, 2024, and signed into another hotel at 10:47 a.m. On the day of the blast, he left the hotel at 12 p.m.

These findings helped authorities understand the timeline and movements leading to the attack.
