‘I Was Rejected For Deadpool 2’ – John Cena Talks About Rejections He Received Before Peacemaker

WWE former superstar John Cena who last month made an appearance as a Peacemaker in one of the most awaited sequels of DC’s movie “Suicide Squad 2” directed by James Gunn.

His role was very much appreciated and James Gunn didn’t waste any time to give this character a separate TV show as well. Although people got hyped up with the trailer coming out and eagerly waited for it.

But in an interview wrestler turned into an actor revealed that it’s not the first time he auditioned for any superhero movie.

Okay! That’s something new for all the John Cena fans out there. Because of the way performed in Suicide Squad 2 everyone loved it and considered it one of the best acts he has ever done.

Suicide Squad 2 isn’t John Cena’s first superhero movie

John Cena made an appearance at a Happy, Sad Confused podcast where he revealed his earlier superhero movie auditions he gave but rejected. He also jumped deep inside the details of how hard it is to be part of the DC or Marvel franchise.

Cena shared, “I can’t tell you how many superhero roles I’ve been rejected for. Shazam is certainly one. I think like a child, so Shazam was super interesting to me.”

Not only Shazam, Marvel’s one of the funniest and 18+ movie Deadpool 2 movie as well for the role of Cable which further gone to actor Josh Brolin. Josh Brolin also played Thanos’s role as well.

John Cena shared that he didn’t give up even after being rejected for Deadpool 2 role as well. The actor explained, “There was a brief try at the Deadpool universe, rejection. There were a few in the Marvel universe, rejected. But you know, I keep trying.”

“I read all those scripts, and I read all those parts, and I was like, ‘Man, I really think I could add to this,’ and just rejection after rejection after rejection after rejection,” he shared, adding, “But I guess that… the lows make the highs high.”

After all of his hard work and struggle paid off in Suicide Squad 2 as a ‘Peacemaker’. His collaboration with James Gunn surely changed his life and his involvement even gave him a separate spin-off series.

Cena said, Cena, said, “The crazy thing was, I wasn’t first on the list for Peacemaker. James had a long list, and it happened by accident, too.

He’s like, ‘Hey, I’m in Atlanta, I’d just love to come and talk to you for a second.’ We sat down in his pre-production office, which was literally like a war headquarters where you could see the whole movie in posterboard taped around his office, and he started talking about Peacemaker, and he’s like, ‘I think you should do it.’
