Jemima Goldsmith’s film starring Pakistani actress Sajal Aly who made her Hollywood debut and Sajal Aly and Jemima shared snaps with the writer. Along with her, Bollywood veteran actress Shabana Azmi also joined the cast.

It’s a rom-com movie that captured everyone’s attention in terms of direction and acting. Shekhar Kapur is the main guy who bagged big awards in four categories and showcased his cinematic magic.

Taking to Twitter, Jemima wrote, “No one likes a show-off. But…we won four awards for our film last night and I felt so grateful and happy.”

Listing the triumphs, Jemima highlighted that the film won Best Screenplay, Best British Film, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor.” Capping off her tweet, Jemima said, “Thank you and well done to the entire team.”

Significant recognition for the renowned movie has already been attained. Sajal Aly, Shazad Latif, Shabana Azmi, and Emma Thompson are among the amazing ensemble cast, while famous music legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan makes a special cameo appearance.

Nine Nominations

Nine categories nominated the movie for awards. Both viewers and critics have been enthralled by the film’s exploration of the complex nature of love and marriage in various civilizations.

Jemima had been nominated for Best Screenplay, demonstrating her skill as a writer and producer, and her talent for putting a story together. What’s Love Got to Do with It? was nominated for several important awards, including Best British Film, Best Director for Shekhar, Best Screenplay for Jemima, and Best Actress for Lily James.

These nominees were announced in May for the 9th annual National Film Awards, which were presented by the respected National Film Academy of the United Kingdom. Following the announcement of the nominees, Shekhar received numerous congratulations on social media.

Famous people sent their best wishes to Shekhar, including Manoj Bajpayee, who had previously worked with the filmmaker on the widely praised movie Bandit Queen in 1994.

Back in 2021, Jemima disconnected her relationship with the Crown after the portrayal of Diana’s story.
