Imran Riaz Khan Denies Seeking Asylum, Calls Out Salman Ahmad

Journalist and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan has accused musician-turned-political activist Salman Ahmad of endangering his family’s safety. In a social media post, Riaz urged Salman to leave him alone after the latter’s statements allegedly put his life at risk.

Riaz Denies Seeking Asylum

Riaz took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that he had never applied for asylum abroad. He also asked Salman, a former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member, to forgive him for ever having spoken to him.

The controversy began when activist Adil Raja claimed on January 26 that Salman had used his connections in the U.S. government, including ties with Donald Trump’s aide Richard Grenell, to secure an emergency American visa for Riaz and his family.

Salman’s Statements Spark Backlash

Salman Ahmad later posted on X, expressing relief over Riaz’s safety and stating that international organizations, including the UN and Amnesty International, were monitoring his situation.

In another post, Salman called for unity, urging both Adil Raja and Riaz to settle their differences. “We as a nation need to support each other in difficult times,” he wrote.

However, Riaz responded firmly: “Salman, please forgive me for talking to you. You put my family and me at risk. Leave us alone. I never applied for asylum. I am in touch with multiple international organizations, but none of them did this to me.”

Social Media Outrage

Salman’s comments triggered strong reactions online. One user called him out for allegedly spreading false information, while another accused him of seeking attention.

Despite the backlash, Salman stood by his remarks and shared Junoon’s iconic song “Azadi,” linking it to Pakistan’s struggle for democracy and human rights. He emphasized the need for free speech, fair elections, and an end to human rights violations, stating that true freedom could only be achieved with the immediate release of Imran Khan.

PTI Expelled Salman Ahmad

It is worth mentioning that PTI had already terminated Salman Ahmad’s party membership on December 19 for allegedly running a campaign against Imran Khan’s family. His removal came after he made controversial claims about the former first lady, Bushra Bibi, on social media.
