Today, the 5th of October marks the day when Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister and former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, Imran Khan was born. A leader, not a ruler is how his followers and admirers describe him. Truly, he earned a great deal of respect not just from Pakistanis alone but has marked his place internationally as well. He was born in Lahore in 1952 and turned 67, today.
The founder and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf [PTI] was congratulated by the members of his party as well. Furthermore, Imran Khan has taken over the Pakistani Twitter trend as three different birthday hashtags appear in the top 5 spots.
If you don’t know already then Imran Khan’s complete name is Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi. He was born into an affluent Pashtun family and received high-class education in Pakistan and the UK, which included the Royal Grammar School in Worcester and Aitchison College in Lahore. He studied philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford and enjoyed playing cricket.
His family included some accomplished cricketers, such as his two elder cousins, Javed Burki and Majid Khan; both served as captains of the national team. Imran continued on with his cricket journey and in 1982 was declared as the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team. His good looks, charisma and impeccable fashion sense kept him under the limelight and he quickly gained the ‘celebrity status’ in Pakistan and England.
Fast forward to the current times, he is now running an entire country with great responsibility and courage. In a short span of his premiership, Imran made countless important decisions and called the shots on sensitive matters pertaining to the on-going tussle with India. He has proven himself to be free of any greed, unlike Pakistan’s previous leaders who till this day continue to lie. Pakistan has a great deal of hope attached to Imran Khan and he surely is mindful of the expectations of the common Pakistani folks.
