The tech giant, Huawei has signed an academic agreement with Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI). Huawei and GIKI will launch a 4-year graduate degree in artificial intelligence in Pakistan. The agreement formalized virtually.
The formal relation between Huawei and Pakistan started in 2016. The present artificial intelligence degree is an offshoot of that relationship. GIK is a reputable institute of engineering, and Huawei Technologies is pioneering the world in Information Technology.
In this cooperation, GIK, with Huawei has planned the syllabus and courses. The agreement authorizes GIKI to use the Huawei AI learning date. Moreover, a qualified team of Huawei will train people under the program.
Besides, the partnership will enable students to learn theory and practical experience in the field. Furthermore, students will get a Huawei certificate, which will create ample job opportunities for the graduates.
Eminent personalities of GIK and Huawei attended the event. Farid Rahman, President GIK Board of Governors and SOPREST, Shakil Durrani, Executive Director, SOPREST, Mark Meng, CEO Huawei Pakistan, Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK, and Mr. SpaceLee, VP Huawei Middle-East, along with other esteemed members were present in the event.
President, GIK Board of Governors and SOPREST, Farid Rehman, talked on the occasion. As per Pakistan Observer, he said, “This partnership provides the next and higher level of collaboration, which he hopes will strengthen the mutual cooperation in the field of AI between the two organizations.”
Mark Meng, CEO Huawei Pakistan said Huawei would “share the best AI knowledge with GIK and students will have the opportunity to be linked to the industry. Huawei and GIK have joined hands to make this initiative run successfully.”
Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK, said: “Huawei has always been one of the top ICT companies in the world, GIK is recognized internationally, it would be a good fit, and thus we have the GIK BS in AI-Partnered by Huawei.”
In conclusion, the partnership is a step towards modernizing Pakistan. Artificial intelligence is the most prevailing concept and study of the contemporary era. it is pertinent to mention the students of GIK develop an AI-based COVID-19 detector. God willing, Pakistani students will excel in the field.
