Govt identifies culprits Motorway Gang-Rape

Hours after identifying one of the suspects in the Lahore motorway gang-rape case, Punjab police under Govt now identifies both the culprits involved in the motorway gang-rape act that jolted Pakistan.

Punjab IGP Inam Ghani held a news conference with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and announced the news.

The top Punjab official also confirmed that the prime accused, Abid Ali has been identified through DNA profiling while his accomplice is identified as Waqarul Hassan Shah.

Both culprits of the Lahore motorway gang-rape identified

Punjab IGP said, “The prime accused Abid Ali was hiding in a small village near Sheikhpura and when he came to know about the police team he changed his location.”

Waqarul was identified through geo-fencing. Punjab IGP said the information about the culprits was acquired by the police.

As per his CNIC, Waqar is 37-year-old and is a resident of Ferozwala, Sheikhupura. 

“Geo-fencing of the area was carried out, data was taken from the Election Commission, fingerprints were taken from the site, and DNA tests were done. The accused will soon be arrested,” Punjab IGP assured the media.

“We are 95% sure that [the person we have tracked down] is his partner as his phone signals were traced to the location of the crime.”

“Unfortunately, despite raiding both the suspects’ residences, we were not able to get a hold of them,” Punjab IGP he added.

Punjab govt launch a manhunt after suspects 

According to sources, both the men are involved in serious offenses including rape and robbery. Meanwhile, both the suspects are at large. However, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is carrying out raids for their arrest.

The Punjab government launched a search to arrest the suspects in the Lahore motorway gang rape case after their identification through scientific evidence.

Now that the Govt identifies the culprits Punjab CM also promised that the culprits od the motorway gang-rape would be arrested soon. He also announced Rs2.5 million reward for any information leading to their arrest.

He said the identity of those bringing forward any information will be kept confidential.

Earlier, the police revealed details of Abid Ali. The suspect is a resident of Fort Abbas, a town in Bahawalnagar. Abid is 27-year-old and is a proclaimed offender with a criminal record. Abid has been nominated in multiple cases earlier as well. He also raped a mother and daughter in 2013, according to police sources.
