Governor Punjab Makes Quran Translation Compulsory In Punjab Universities

For making the teaching of the Holy Quran with translation compulsory across all provincial universities, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar constituted a seven-member committee of the Vice-Chancellors.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting with Vice-Chancellors at the Governor’s House, Sarwar said that students across all universities in Punjab will be taught the Holy Quran with meaning and translation. The Governor also said that we all believe that the Holy Qur’an is the complete code of life that was revealed to our Prophet to guide the world.

He said: “I have been feeling this for a long time and I have been telling others that we read the Qur’an but do not read it with meaning. For this purpose, I convened a meeting of the Vice-Chancellors of all the universities and presented my proposal to them. We should teach the Holy Quran to the students in all the universities of Punjab with meaning so that they can take guidance from it and become a good person”.
