We just came across a story where a foreign guy has asked people to help him meet the love of his life, who is apparently a Pakistani. So, he is meeting her family and wants to make a kickass impression. We all know how desi parents are, so first and foremost, I feel kind of sorry for the guy because it’s not the best set of affairs to find yourself in…
Anyway, here’s what he wrote:
I’m completely foreign to all aspects of Pakistani culture (except Islam) coming from Ethiopia. The girl & I have known each other for a few months & both of us love each other. Now she asks me to meet her father/family. I need your help with teaching me cultural rules, etiquette for eating, touching, speaking and etc, what I should expect, will I be discriminated for my dark skin color, what should I do if I break any of those rules, what her family might find appealing in a candidate & additional useful information.
