Last week, two of the country’s leading business groups, Jalal & Sons and Master Tiles, married off their children with the most expensive wedding in the country’s history. They spent around Rs 200 crore on the four-day festivities. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Monday asked Master Tiles to explain expenditures incurred at the wedding.
Master Tiles owner’s daughter and Jalal & Sons’ son tied the knot last week and the elite Pakistani family wedding became the talk of the town. Without any shred of a doubt, the wedding was one of the most extravagant weddings we have ever seen.
Both sides threw massive and grand functions. At the wedding, Rose Blanca Club Lahore provided catering, KSC Concept were the event planners, Irfan Ahsan provided photography, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam provided the entertainment.
In addition to this, the bride and groom had none other than Maulana Tariq Jameel to conduct their nikkah ceremony. And we also spotted other famous personalities like Special Assistant to Punjab CM on Information, Dr. Firdous Aashiq Awan at the events.
Not to forget the sweets that they wrapped in 24 Karat Gold Leaf! We do not even know how many of those they must have given away. Apart from this, their one of a kind valima also featured performances by foreign gymnasts. They were flown all over from Turkey for their valima event.
FBR sends notice to Master Tiles director
Gujranwala’s chief commissioner of Inland Revenue served notice to the director of the Master Tiles Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal with regard to extravagant expenditure made on the ceremony.
A notice, under section 176 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, has been issued to them in order to ascertain withholding tax. Moreover, legal action is to be taken accordingly.
Earlier, seeing the lavish, over-the-top wedding event, many were quite furious over the expenditure. While many seemed astonished and amazed to see such a lavish wedding, others were not happy with the extravaganza.
They threw a big fat wedding in times people are having trouble meeting their basic needs. As soon as the social media users caught glimpse of the grandly lavish event, they were quick to call them out for showing off their wealth.
Last month, FBR requested the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to assist in the investigation into the income records of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Sana Fakhar.
