The much-anticipated series, Ms. Marvel, based on the first Pakistani-American Muslim superhero is set to premiere this year, and rumor has it that Fawad and Mehwish will play Kamala Khan’s great-grandparents.
Ms. Marvel, which is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4, will premiere on Disney+ in the summer of 2022. It revolves around the story of Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, who has shapeshifting abilities.
The Marvel Studios’ original series centers on fan-favorite Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, avid gamer, and voracious fan-fic scribe, Kamala Khan have a special affinity for Super Heroes, particularly Captain Marvel.
The upcoming show seems to be taking shape with each passing day. Meanwhile, a Twitter handle known by the name of Ms. Marvel News has been sharing updates about the series.
The latest update reported by the account stated, “Fawad Khan and Mehwish Hayat will be playing Hasan and Aisha, Kamala Khan’s great-grandparents, in a flashback scene in Ms. Marvel”.
“In the comics, her great grandparents only appear in four pages about the partition of India and Pakistan, so it’s likely this scene will be about that, though we can’t confirm yet,” it added.

Looks like Fawad Khan’s fans are in for a treat after his long hiatus from the screen. Following the success Khan earned with his hits in India, the acclaimed actor is reportedly buckling up to make his Hollywood debut as he enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the details about his and Mehwish Hayat’s upcoming role are still not confirmed.
With Vellani as the headliner, the supporting cast consists of Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, and Travina Springer.
In the earlier development on the highly-awaited project, Manzar Sehbai left the fans surprised with the news of his wife Samina Ahmed’s Hollywood debut in Ms. Marvel. The news came in after an Indian news outlet disclosed that Farhan Akhtar’s stationing in Bangkok, for the shooting of Ms. Marvel along with several international celebrities.
Prior to Samina Ahmed, another Pakistani actor Nimra Bucha transpired to play a supporting role among other celebrities. The series has grabbed the attention of the world. But more so of Pakistanis who are eager to see a Muslim and Pakistani superhero on screen. By the way, the first look of Iman Vellani in Ms. Marvel‘s costume is also out!
