On Tuesday, a group of AI experts and other high-profile figures gathered and released a statement regarding AI risk in the upcoming years.

The statement was released by the Center for AI Safety, a San Francisco-based research and advocacy group.

Back in March, a warning open letter was signed and released by well-known figures such as Elon Musk and other popular figures to pause AI development for at least six months.

“Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable,” the letter said.

Ai advancement isn’t slowing down, recently Adobe launched the Ai feature in Photoshop and it raised job loss concerns.

As per the statement, “Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal scales risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.”

People who were involved in the statement include experts such as Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, Geoffrey Hinton, known as the “godfather of AI”, and Audrey Tang, Taiwan’s digital minister, as well as other notable figures including the neuroscientist Sam Harris and the musician Grimes.

The rapid growth of AI in society surely raised some serious concerns about the negative consequences in the world. Mass range of job losses, the credibility of fragmented news, and political instability.

The European Union has sad, “it hopes to pass legislation by the end of the year that would classify AI into four risk-based categories.

Even China has taken strict action against Ai and imposed rules on regulating Ai involvement.

Despite all this, Google announced Chat GPT rival Bard and it somehow couldn’t cope.
