Electric Buses To Hit Pakistani Roads This Year – In 3 Years The Country Will Start Making Them

Electric buses are coming to Pakistan. Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has announced that electric buses will start running in the country this year. A private transport company of Pakistan and a Chinese company signed an agreement in Islamabad today. The accord will lead to introducing electrical vehicles chain in Pakistan.

This will help reduce air pollution as well, according to Radio Pakistan. In the first phase, 50 million dollars will be invested in building infrastructure. Meanwhile, in the second phase, the production of electric buses will start in Pakistan within the next three years.

Fawad Chaudhry termed it a breakthrough in fulfilling another promise by the government to take the country to progress. He said Pakistan would be the first country in Asia that will have electric vehicles.

He said in the next three years, Pakistan would start making the electric buses. Chaudhry added the PTI government was working to promote Pakistan’s new energy vehicles policy.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing appreciated Pakistan’s policies. He said the people of Pakistan and China were working together for the strengthening of bilateral ties.

Yao Jing appreciated the role of Pakistan in providing facilities to the private sector for establishing a relationship between the two countries. He said several power plants are also being set up under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to overcome power shortage.
