Educational Institutions Announce Extended Winter Vacations

Peshawar: ARY News reported on Monday that the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has added a week to all schools’ winter breaks across the province.

The extremely cold weather in the province has prompted the announcement and decision.

The weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is unfavorable due to the significant decrease in temperature.

People are concerned about the health of children who have to go to school early in the morning, when it’s usually very cold.

Schools and colleges will now open on January 7 instead of January 1.

The KP government had previously announced that it would close the plains from December 22 to December 31 and the hilly areas from December 22 to February 28.

On the other hand, the Punjab government told public and private schools across the state that they would have 20 days off for the winter.

The winter break will see 20 days of school closures, from December 20, 2024, to January 10, 2025, according to Khalid Nazir Wattoo, Secretary of Schools Punjab.

The news came at the same time that the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered pick-up and drop-off services for schoolchildren after winter break. The growing danger of smog prompted this action.

The instructions came from LHC Justice Shahid Karim in a three-page written order he sent out on Monday about smog prevention applications.

According to the court, kids had to use school-provided transportation to get to and from school.
