Pakistan has experienced earthquakes on a regular and the worst to ever jolt Pakistan was back in 2005, on October the 8th. Today, on 20th December 2019, Pakistan was once again under the grip of severe tremors of a 6.4 magnitude; which rocked Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, and areas close-by. Moreover, everyone was forced out of their buildings and homes, seeking safety in open-air, outside. The quake struck at 4:39 PM.

Previously Punjab was hit by an earthquake of 5.5 magnitude. Further, the northern areas were affected by this shake and massive splits were observed within the roads. In addition, Pakistan’s current situation politically is seeing major unrest.

Now, with this natural disaster, there is much more in the hands of the concerned departments. Luckily, no loss of life is reported as of yet and hopefully, there won’t be any in the near future. However, this was a severe quake and of a very high magnitude. So there are concerns regarding the lives of Pakistanis.

Peshawar, Malakand, and Chitral were also rocked by the jolts. Tremors jolted Sargodha and its surrounding areas as well. The epicenter is reported to be Koh-e-Hindukush mountain in Afghanistan and it measured 210 kilometers deep; as informed by the Meteorological Department (PMD).
