A suicide attack on a checkpoint in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claimed the lives of at least twelve security guards, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and Express News.
The military’s media branch said that 12 Pakistani soldiers died in an attack on a joint checkpost in Bannu district on November 19, 2024. 10 of the soldiers were from the security forces, and 2 were from the Frontier Constabulary.
Khwarij carried out the attack, attempting to breach the post in the MaliKhel area, according to a statement from the ISPR.
A fight broke out, and six of the attackers were killed, it said.
But the terrorists tried to get past the post’s defenses by driving a car full of explosives into the perimeter wall, which set off a suicide blast.
The blast caused a portion of the wall to collapse, inflicting damage on the nearby infrastructure. This resulted in the deaths of the twelve brave troops and the injuries of other soldiers.
