“On the night of the fast, it is lawful for you to have sexual relations with your wife. They are clothing/covering (libaas) for you and you for them….” (2:187)
There comes a point in a marriage when things become slow – between the responsibilities of the house, looking after the kids and working around the clock, it gets difficult for the married couples to spend time with each other – to remind one another what love really is. Sometimes couples drift apart due to some domestic tensions and sometimes due to not finding time for each other.
A lot of marriages then go down the hill because couples do not invest their times to rekindle the spark they once had.
Religion, on the other hand, always stresses on how important it is for married couples to spend time with each other. So why not plan a date night every week?
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “You shall be rewarded for every deed that you perform solely for Allah’s pleasure, even if that deed is putting something in the mouth of your wife.” (Bukhari)
So Here’s How Couples Can Have a Date Night Every Week to Spend Time with One Another
Send the Kids Away for a Few Hours
Send them to their grandparent’s home or to a friend’s place, a friend who you trust. Do this for just a few hours. While the kids are away, you two can watch your favorite movie, cook dinner for each other or go for a long drive.
Date Night Planning Should Not Be Just One Person’s Job
The wife can plan it for the first week, the husband for the next and so on. It is important for both to put the same effort and bring the same amount of energy on the table. Do something fun, something new every week!
“You who believe! It is not lawful for you to inherit women by force. Nor may you treat them harshly so that you can make off with part of what you have given them, unless they commit an act of flagrant indecency. Live together with them correctly and courteously. If you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something in which Allah has placed a lot of good.” (4:19)
Unwind Yourself – Be Carefree!
It is just going to be you and spouse; go back in time and do something you two always wanted to do. It is never too late. Try it now!
Don’t Forget to Do This Every Now and Then
You two deserve to spend time with each other in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Why not try this every week? Keep the spark alive, pretend to be the old lovers you once were and stay energetic!
So here’s how you can have a perfect date night with your spouse to bring some energy and fun to the marriage.
