After long two years Cyberpunk 2077, one of the biggest releases of 2020 went down into the gutter after the players faced an enormous amount of bugs in it. Cyberpunk 2077 was a big disaster when it was released and no one saw it coming.
The maker Cd Red Projekt released endless statements and apologized to the fans out there. To get rid of all the bugs and glitches they have released patches to fix the issues.
But what’s surprising is that after two years Cyberpunk 2077 revived from the ground and became the top seller on Steam.
You heard it right, with the recent patches almost everything is fixed in the game and people have been roaming in the night city.
Revival of Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 faced a big backlash in its initial release, even Sony removed it from their store in just a few days and owners demanded a refund.
The night city’s light was fading and all the excitement was doomed. Last year, in July a new patch improved everything for the players. From texture to bugs and players again headed to the night city for some fun time.
Cyberpunk 2077 has hit another milestone in its second life, now topping the Steam sales charts and overtaking Modern Warfare 2 as the best-selling game.
Cyberpunk 2077 not only became the top-seller on steam but also on 24th of September Cyberpunk hit just under 105,000 concurrent players – overtaking The Witcher’s highest count of 103,329 which dates back three years ago. The hard work of the devs surely paid off in perfecting the title.
Director Pawel Sasko
After the big response from the players and giving Cyberpunk 2077 a second life the director Pawel Sasko opened up about Cyberpunk 2077’s recent massive success.
“It’s hard to express when you are putting so much heart and soul into something and for some of us, it’s been six, seven, eight years sometimes, especially for those who started at the very beginning. So to have this moment of people liking something that we did, it’s really feeling a bit unreal that finally, people are appreciating it.”
He further touched on the lows as well as the recent highs. “After the release, I couldn’t believe – after some time, I did – but at the beginning, I couldn’t believe it at all.”
He added, “I remember my dear girlfriend, she was seeing me f**king completely wrecked. But’s good to be back, it’s f**king good to be back. That was really so heartbreaking.”
Despite of bad release, with the initial patches, Cyberpunk 2077 led the Steam Awards 2021 and won the outstanding story-rich game.
