In his video message, he ripped all the misconceptions that we often hear about CSS by sharing his life story.

The misconceptions about CSS:

It’s a general misconception among students, that in order to clear CSS, you need to fulfill certain criteria. Other than the academics and merit. For instance:

  • To clear CSS you should belong to an Elite family
  • If there are many bureaucrats in your family you have a higher chance to clear CSS
  • And that if you studied from the best schools in Pakistan, only then you will be considered for bureaucracy.

Turns out, that’s not the case. The only thing you need is passion.

Here’s what he had to say:

Mohammad Billal’s father is an uneducated poor man who has worked hard all his life as a daily wager. The CSS qualifier did not go to a fancy school when he was a kid or a proper school for that matter. He studied at the Maktab school in his village up till the sixth grade. He learned to read and write the English language when he was in grade 6. Later, he went on to do his matriculation and FSC from Multan and he did his Masters and M-Phil degrees from Faisalabad.

After completing the degree, he started working in a reputed private sector firm. But on his father’s insistence, who wanted to see him as a “Bara Afsar”, he switched to the government sector and started as a Grade 16 officer. He was working as a grade 17 instructor at the agricultural institute when he attempted CSS in 2018.

Bilal further said that nobody in his family has studied beyond Matriculation, and he’s the only academically educated person in his family. He now plans on doing similar motivational videos with the CSS toppers and position holders to let us into their lives and struggles and motivate the youth to strive harder.
