News Of Pakistan’s First Death From Coronavirus In Lahore Is Wrong

A death case has been reported from Pakistan in Punjab district. According to media reports, a suspected coronavirus patient has passed away on Tuesday.

Suspected coronavirus patient was admitted in Lahore’s Mayo Hospital. The deceased identified as Imran, was the resident of Hafizabad. Hospital sources said the patient taken to hospital in wee hours of Tuesday in critical condition.

Reportedly, Imran had returned from Iran in recent days. His specimens were sent for laboratory testing for the confirmation of coronavirus. His reports were expected to come in the afternoon today.

Journalist Omar Cheema also confirmed the death saying that the coronavirus patient died at Lahore Mayo Hospital. He was one of 13 suspected coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital. He was however not yet diagnosed.

However, Mayo Hospital administration says that the patient was suffering from liver disease. The hospital administration said there is a strong possibility that the patient died due to liver disease. The patient was not been tested positive yet. There will be some clearance after the report arrives.

UPDATE: The patient who had earlier been reported as the first #covid19-related death in Pakistan has tested negative for the virus. 

Punjab CM confirmed the report in his recent tweet.

Pakistan reported its first coronavirus death on Monday

Moreover, Pakistan also reported its first coronavirus death in Hayatabad medical complex, Peshawar on Monday. The patient was admitted to HMC in critical condition. He was reported to travel from Qatar to Pakistan.

The patient belonged to Hangu while his family lives in Qatar. However, there is no official confirmation from the government.

Notably, the Pakistani government is limiting travel [both inward and outward] to curb the movement of people. Schools in Pakistan are shut and classes have moved online. While entertainment venues and large gatherings have been banned in the country.

Increasing cases of Coronavirus in Pakistan

Moreover, as per the recent reports, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 155 in Sindh after five more cases were reported in the province on Tuesday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan has now risen to 188 after the announcement of additional cases by the Sindh government.

Where Sindh government is proactively taking precautionary measures against the recent health emergency, the Punjab government is showing negligence over the issue. A very few cases have been reported from Punjab so far. They aren’t able to effectively test the virus among the citizens.

Furthermore, the first corona patient in the Punjab province was identified in Lahore who came to Pakistan from Europe via Dubai on March 10. Only, 5 patients are tested positive in Punjab region as confirmed by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

The Islamabad government, meanwhile, has sealed Pakistani borders with Iran and Afghanistan. Transmission of international flights has been restricted to only three airports in Pakistan. Moreover, the government has also banned all public gatherings. Pakistan’s southern Sindh province is the worst affected by the coronavirus so far.
