Sikkim is strategically more important to India than China. The two countries have competing claims over their shared 3,400 kilometre (2,100 miles) border. The latest face-off took place near Naku La sector in the Himalayas. India and China fought a war in 1962 over a border dispute.

So, the squabble in this region is not a new phenomenon. Symbolically, it is more important to China and India. In 2017, the two countries also clashed in the region after China tried to extend a border road through a disputed plateau.

The skirmishes between China and India in Sikkim have some links to the statement of India over the status of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit- Baltistan.

Earlier, India issued a statement over the disputed region between Pakistan and India. Meanwhile, a strong statement came from China in the form of Sikkim border skirmish. Actually, China has vested interests in Pakistan as CPEC is passing through Gilgit which is the flagship project of one belt one road. On the other hand, India remains sceptical of China’s ambitions in the region and opposes China’s CPEC. As a result, China views the Indian statement as challenging its interests in the region.

Recently, India announced to telecast the weather updates of the Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir in Indian media. Along with updates of weather this region, Indian army warned Pakistan to evacuate this territory. With this warning, India is also aiming to deploy Special Forces near these areas in order to increase pressure on Pakistan. These were India’s well calculated and deliberate political moves. Meanwhile, China and Pakistan support each other at any platforms, so the answer to Indian moves was evident.

Furthermore, terrorist attacks on the Pakistan Army in Baluchistan and KPK increased within a few days. Also, Indian channels openly warned Pakistan to disintegrate from Baluchistan. These terror attacks have linked to Indian spy agency RAW and Afghanistan spy agency NDS.

Actually, these moves were aimed at to pressurize Pakistan to step back from exposing Indian Brutality in Indian occupied Kashmir.

Indian armed forces have killed innocent Kashmiris in Indian occupied Kashmir under the guise of terrorists. Pakistan highlights India’s atrocities at international level which is becoming international humiliation for India and world powers are pressuring India over the Kashmir issue. The Chinese response can, therefore, be tantamount to the Indian statement over the disputed region of Kashmir.

Furthermore, disturbance in Sikkim can disrupt peace in India. China claims many parts of India in the Northeast. As a result, China gave warning in the form of a little skirmish that if Chinese interests in Pakistan get disturbed then China will also hurt Indian interests in other parts. Till now it is quid pro quo for both nations in the region.
