Arooj Aftab Becomes First Female Pakistani Artist To Win A Grammy! Check Out The Complete Winners List

Last night’s Grammy Awards was historic with the debutant grabbing the most precious award of their career and course beautiful Las Vegas. Many of the musicians were there and the night was full of rhythm in every manner.

It’s the first time Grammy Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with a live audience rather than a virtual one. Since the pandemic hit, none of the big award events were held in person, and fans missed them a lot.

The highlight moment of the night was Brooklyn-based Pakistani vocalist Arooj Aftab who not only did her debut performance at the Grammy night in front of the greatest stars but also grabbed the Grammy Award in the category of Best Global Performance for her song Mohabbat.

She became the first Pakistani female to achieve this kind of milestone. Along with her, Jon Batiste also took home the prize for Album of the Year.

No doubt, Arooj Aftab made history first for being nominated and now for winning it. She took the moment to share her happiness on the microblogging site Instagram.

She posted the picture along with her fellow winner artist Jon Batiste. She wrote about her joy over the diversity of music honored at the Grammys this year, “Oh my gosh. I am so proud of this moment personally, but also for the industry itself. Tonight we celebrated music as a collective, unapologetically making what we want to make, in all its genre-less, limitless crossover glory. Thank you AND congratulations.”

She was also nominated in the category of Best New Artist, which went to pop star Olivia Rodrigo. The artist was “beyond thrilled”, told the journalists backstage. She further added, “It feels great.”

Even for the memorable ceremony, Arooj also picked up great attire opting for a black and silver glitzy fringed blouse and tailored black high-waisted pants, pairing them with a long purple overcoat. With that, her messy hair complimented the whole look.
