Shahid Afridi, A Possible Contender For Governor Sindh

Former Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad stepped down from his position after serving 14 good years of his honorable service.

Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad was replaced by late Justice (R) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui on the 9th of November, 2016. He was sworn as the 31st Governor of Sindh but was struck with bad health shortly after.

Justice (R) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui passed away on Wednesday in Karachi, according to the Governor house correspondent.

Now the government of Pakistan is in search for a Governor of Sindh. A few names have been circulating for appointment as the Governor after the demise of Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui who could not recover from his illness.

The most likely people in the queue of contenders include Mushahid Ullah, Mohammad Zubair, Muftah Ismail and Qutb-ud-din. Shehnaz Hamid, wife of late K-Electric Management Director Shahid Hamid is also under consideration.

Ever since the tweet from Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi has taken a toll on the social media. It has been drawing quite an attention to it and people are already rooting for their beloved Shahid Afridi to become the next Governor of Sindh.

The tweet drew hundreds of retweets and likes from followers who definitely seem to be in favor of such a consequence.

But their excitement drained after a while… Javed Afridi posted another tweet in which he clarified he did not mean his cousin to be the Governor of Sindh. But he still did not make it clear who he actually meant as ‘Shahid’.

It would be a wild fantasy of fans and followers of Shahid Afridi who may have really thought for a moment that he is a contender for the Governor. We never know; he could always throw in his hat in the contender ship.
