The Punjab Government has declared begging to an non-bailable offence. Meanwhile, the offence will carry 8 years imprisonment and a Rs. 500,000 fine. News came by with the approval of Punjab’s Cabinet Standing Committee on legislation, and Privatization. The committee amended the Vagrancy Ordinance 1958.

Meanwhile, the proposal still stands for approval from the Punjab cabinet. Furthermore, under the recommendation, the leader of the begging gang will face a minimum 3 years imprisonment. Meanwhile, failure to pay fine may result in extension in jail time.
