Pakistan cricket team no doubt played unexpected throughout the Asia Cup up till now, but they might get a big blow as there are high chances of Asif Ali getting banned for his action in last night’s match.
Asif Ali got in a heated argument in which he tried to get physical with Afghani bowler Fareed Malik when he dismissed him after Asif’s six.
As per the video, Fareed was the main culprit who began sledging and abusing him which made Asif furious and he tried to hit him with a bat.
When the incident happened, many of netizens and former Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib tweeted that he should be banned.
Afghanistan demand banning Asif Ali
Former Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib tweeted, “This is stupidity at extreme level by Asif Ali and should be ban from the rest of the tournament, any bowler has the right to celebrate but being physical is not acceptable at all. @icc @ACCMedia1″
Former Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chief executive Shafiq Stanikzai criticised Pakistan batter, Asif Ali, saying his actions were “stupidity” and that the Pakistan batter should be banned from the rest of the tournament.
Stanikzai tweeted, “This is stupidity at the extreme level by Asif Ali and should be banned from the rest of the tournament, any bowler has the right to celebrate but being physical is not acceptable at all.”
It all happened last night when Pakistan had beaten Afghanistan to reach the finals and knock them out of the tournament.
One-Sided biasness
In defense, former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar responded and shared his views. “Biased & one sided representation of the incident. We all know what happened there. Come on guys, you’re @ESPNcricinfo.”
One user shared an example of South African bowler, “ICC banned Kagiso Rabada for one Test match for celebrating too close within Joe Root’s space after getting him out.
Today, Fareed Ahmad was even closer when he celebrated Asif Ali’s wicket right on his face. It was a reaction to an action. why #BanAsifAli #BanFareedAhmed.”
Up till now ICC didn’t release any statement regarding the incident and no ban implemented on Asif Ali for Asia Cup 2022 final.
