Award ceremonies are the most precious occasions for the celebrities out there. It’s gratitude, that the actors get from the critics for their hard work they have done for the movies. One such example is the Asian lady who won an award in the golden globe 2021.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s an Oscars or Emmys both are the biggest mega-events for film and TV industry.
On Monday 1st March, 78th Golden Globe held and shocked the world with the winners.
Without caring about the pandemic, producers released some outstanding movies for their audience out there.
Studios found subsitute for releasing their movies, appraoched streaming platforms and released it there.
Movies Surprised The Audience:
The cermony wasn’t the same, it was differnt than usual. The78th Golden Globe hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
The night was taken by the “Nomadland” and “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”.
Chloe Zhao the director of the Nomadland took the best picture of the evening along with the Best Director award too.
Chloe Zhao got emotional because she became the first Asian lady to win the best director award 2021 in the history of Golden Globe awards.
She even talked about the violence against the Asian in America, “I think a lot of great people have been doing incredible work in the community to raise awareness,” she said. “Again, [it’s] the word ‘compassion’.
I think when we look in each other’s eyes and stare at the other person, you can’t deny them as a human beings. We all just have to learn. Maybe we need to be a bit more compassionate to ourselves.”
Her winning makes history, even on Twitter people started praising her and congratulating her on her win.
Borat Headed Towards Wining Race
Sacha Baron Cohen took the limelight with the two Golden Globes. One for the Best Musical/Comedy movie award for the “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and second one for the best actor in comic.
Chadwick Boseman Honored
The most emotional moment of the night was when late “Chadwick Boseman” won the Golden Globe for the best actor in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and his wife received the award with an emotional speech.
Best Actress In Drama & Comedy
The best actress award won by Andra Day for “The United States vs. Billie Holiday”, was her first award. In Musical/Comedy, the best actress won by “Rosamund Pike” for “I Care A lot”.
Judas & Sorkin Held The Globes
And in motion picture best-supporting actor gone to Daniel Kaluuya, “Judas and the Black Messiah” for his unbelievable acting. In screenplay nominees “Aaron Sorkin” nailed it and won the best screenplay for “The Trial of Chicago 7”. For the best Supporting actress, Jodie Foster held the Golden Globe for her marvelous acting in “The Mauritanian”.
Foreign Language
The Foreign Language movie “Minari” was the one who was the clear winner in that category.
Minari director Lee Isaac Chung created a semi-autobiographical story that won the award and the most promising moment was when the name announced her daughter hugged him and said “I prayed, I prayed”.
For the animated category, there were 5 nominees and “Soul” was the one who took the liberty to come to step forward and receive what they have earned.
TV Series Winning Race
Now head towards the TV side, where The Crown dominated in terms of Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Drama. For best actor in TV series won by “John O’ Conor” for “The Crown” and the best actress in TV series won by “Emma Corrin, for “The Crown”. The Crown also managed to secure the Best Supporting Actress award as well which gone to Gillian Anderson.
Again “Schitt’s Creek” continued in winning the best musical/comedy series and also grabbed the best actress award by Catherine O’Hara.
In comedy series, the best actor won by Jason Sudeikis, for “Ted Lasso”. Looking at the limited series nominees, the winner was clear “The Queen’s Gambit” and also took the best actress award in a limited series by Anya Taylor-Joy.
In the limited series, “Mark Ruffalo” took the spot in the best actor category for his outstanding acting in “I Know This Much Is True”.
Looking at these two foreign directors who have conquered in the nation where their people getting attacked by the higher authorities. It seems like you cannot stop them, last year was “The Parasite” and now these two outstanding directors. Also, African American actors dominated this year’s Golden Globe.
The night was full of surprises, a historic moment has been created, an emotional award acceptance speech was made and Royal Drama took the major golds.
