The boyhood dream is one win away from lifting the World Cup in front of thousands of fans and creating history. Argentina shattered Croatia most easily and sent them home with 3 goals in the bag.
No one thought, that it would be so easy for Messi and his side to secure the win in the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup.
Julian Alvarez was the man who managed to bag two goals and book his team’s position in the final. But Lionel Messi also created history and made the match way easier than ever.
More magic from Messi led his side to win the piece of silverware that has eluded him in his trophy-laden career.
Argentina In FIFA World Cup Final
In the early stage of the game Croatian side was dominating and showcasing great gameplay. But out of nowhere, Argentina made a huge comeback and managed to secure a penalty in the 33rd minute. That’s where Lionel Messi arrived to take the penalty and create history.
Messi looked not fit enough due to his hamstring problem, but he recovered to break the deadlock from the penalty spot after 34 minutes following Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic’s foul on the marauding Alvarez.
Just five minutes later, Julian Alvarez got the ball inside the Croatian territory where Alvarez got the ball aided by fortunate bounces off Josip Juranovic and Borna Sosa, before beating Livakovic.
Messi Memorized Croatian Defenders
The way Lionel Messi played in the second half, it looked like he memorized Josko Gvardiol’s movement byline before playing a great ball to Alvarez to finish in style.
Argentina’s first shocking defeat against Saudi Arabia 2-1, was surely a wake-up call for them because since then they rose like a phoenix and conquered every game to lift the glorious trophy.
Now let’s see who will join Argentina on Sunday, as today the underdog Morocco will be facing defending champions France.
Morocco also had a great run throughout the world cup, as they knocked out Portugal, and ended Ronaldo’s World Cup dream.
