Terrorism spans the entire world and manifests itself in various forms. International media associate terrorism with Muslims and compensate this by saying “all Muslims are not terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims”.

Muslims claim that Islam is a religion of peace and the rest of the world declares it as a religion of violence. According to the west, if destruction was undertaken by or on behalf of an established government against another country, then innocent civilians assassination is considered as war or just a matter of policy but not terrorism. No one alleged them as terrorist states or a terrorist religion. Conversely, if someone having a beard kills innocent people then Islam is blamed as a terrorist religion.

It’s a popular misconception that terrorism was initiated by Muslims. Association of Muslims with terrorism come to mind by considering – Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Daaish, which are extremists, whereas in Islam killing of the innocent person is considered killing of whole humanity. History states that 1941 to 1948, 259 terrorist attacks conducted by Jews, Irgun, Haganah and others.

First of all, it is necessary to value the fact that religion should not be blamed for the behavior of a particular person, group or state. Islam is associated with Terrorism by Media but “terrorism” does not exist in the Qur’an or the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.A.W). Islam is the religion of mercy, kindness, and peace for all creatures. Allah said in Qur’an:

“It is those who believe and confuse not their beliefs with oppression that are (truly) in security, for they are on (right) guidance.”( Surat AlAna’m, 6:82)

According to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W):

“The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.”

If we recall the history, we can say that maximum people killed, were not by Muslims but by non-Muslims. Decisions can also create terrorism, just not the bombs as Mao Zedong did through his policies and political purges from 1949 to 1976 and caused the death of 49 to 78 million people. Jozef Stalin killed 23 million people who opposed him, and his targets were often executed.

Adolf Hitler killed 17 million civilians. Leopold II of Belgium Created a colony called the “Congo Free State”, enslaved its people and killed 2 to 15 million. Kim Sung forced the country to believe in his hallucination and killed 1.5 million people and so on.

If we look at 20th and 21st-century terrorism, different non-Muslim countries killed many people. America killed 2 million Vietnamese, 2.5 million Koreans, 200,000 in Cambodia, 91,000 in Afghanistan and 174,000 in Iraq. During Israel-Palestine conflict, Israel killed 7978 which include 1620 Children. India killed approx 47,000 in Kashmir and 1000 in Punjab and burned children alive. Buddhists killed, executed and burned Muslims who are in minority in Burma.

It may be true that some alienated factions among Muslims are following a wrong path and evil deeds in the name of religion but it is inappropriate to carry on a propaganda style media reporting against a whole religion and its followers. Is it fair assessment if I call Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Jewish as a terrorist religion on the basis of former facts? Then why Islam is blamed for some coward’s acts of so called Muslims?

Terrorizing the civilian population can never be termed as jihad and can never be reconciled with the teachings of Islam. Islam is totally opposite to the concept of terrorism. Those who call Islam a terrorist religion, they must be clear that the people who spread terror in the world are not Muslims, because this one act disapproves his being a Muslim.
