‘I Quit Bollywood’ – Aamir Khan Shares His Thought Of Leaving Bollywood In Lockdown

In his recent interview, Aamir Khan also revealed that he had planned to quit Bollywood forever, but his family didn’t approve of his decision and convinced him not to quit.

Aamir Khan shared that the period of Covid-19 made him realize how much he had missed out on spending time with his family, leading him to come up with this horrific decision.

In an interview with ABP News, the Lagaan actor shared that he thought about his life in Covid-19 a lot. “I went through a lot of introspection in these two years and few things flashed in front of me. I started to count how I spent my life, what have I lost and achieved,” he said.

“One thing that hit me sharply is my entire adult life, which I started as an assistant director at 18-years-old and today I’m 57-years-old. I’ve been working in films because this life had attracted me and I was involved in it passionately”.

For the actor, while there is “nothing wrong” with being passionate about such pursuits, it shouldn’t be “at the cost of your responsibilities”.

Khan further shared that he wasn’t able to spend more time with his daughter Ira Khan when she was younger. “She would have had her dreams, fear, challenges and I wasn’t there,” he said.

“Today this hits me because I didn’t know what her dreams and fears were but I knew all that [when it came to] my colleagues. I realized this and how time is the most precious resource [this year],” the PK actor said.

Dhoom3 star shared that this whole thinking process or say realization made him very angry, in a quick response, the interviewer asked him if the anger led to him thinking about quitting Bollywood, Khan answered in the affirmative, “I quit,” he said.

“I’ve never told anyone this and you all might take a minute to understand. I told my family that I will no longer do films or produce films.

I told them [Khan’s children and ex-wife] that I want to spend time with you all and the response I got was them being shocked.

Last year, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao got divorced which made everyone shock. They ended 15 years of marriage.

“I started to think maybe I should tell people. At the same time, I held back because people would assume that it was some sort of ‘marketing scheme’ for Laal Singh Chhadha.

So I thought it better if I don’t. I do films after three to four years and after Laal Singh Chhadha arrives, no one will be concerned about me,” he said.

“My kids told me that I’m an extreme person. I shouldn’t go from something I spent 30 years on to something brand new. [I should] find the balance in my life.”

Talking about quitting, Aamir Khan 2021 officially left the world of social media sharing that any communication with his followers will be done through Aamir Khan Productions’ social media channels.
