In a surprising turn of events, a couple hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Bannu district just has drawn a lot of attention on social media. The reason, they both have been posted in the same district which is a rare feat in-district-level administrative matters.
Dr. Zahidullah and his wife Gul Bano both are stationed in Mardan. Dr.Zahidullah is posted as a district police officer (DPO) while his wife Gul Bano has already been serving as assistant commissioner for the past eight months.
Husband DPO, wife Assistant Commissioner
In the recent transfers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Dr. Zahidullah has been appointed as the District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan, where his wife Gul Bano is already serving as Assistant Commissioner Mardan.
The newly posted DPO in Mardan Zahidullah and his wife Gul Bano have previously served in the Hazara division.
While In Mardan, where the wife will handle other administrative matters, her spouse will look after law and order.
Dr. Zahidullah has previously served as DPO Dera Ismail Khan and DPO Nowshera.
On the other hand, his wife Gul Bano is the first woman in the 50-year history of Mardan Tehsil to have been posted as Assistant Commissioner.
‘Fakhr-e-Bannu’
After Gul Bano cleared her CSS, she now by the local community has been dubbed ‘Fakhr-e-Bannu’.

While talking to Independent Urdu, Gul Bano said, ” After CSS I was worried about what the villagers would think. But now they are proud of me and after seeing my photos on social media, they call me ‘Fakhr e Bannu’.”
The locals now paise the couple as they serve the area and now have a newfound respect for the local police and law enforcement institutions.
“Now they also encourage their children to study and ask them to prepare for the CSS exam ” she further added.
Pakistani women have been making the nation proud as they progress with positivity and show that they are as capable as women anywhere in the world.
