Tariq Aziz – End of an era

He began his career from Radio Pakistan Lahore and was one of the most known voices in the country. He was known for his work on PTV’s show Neelam Ghar. It was first aired in 1974 and later became the Tariq Aziz Show. It was also known as Bazm-e-Tariq Aziz.

Aziz amazing hosting skills made him a household name in Pakistan over the past four decades. He was also a former parliamentarian and a respected poet. He had been a member of the National Assembly between 1997 and 1999.

Pakistan remembers the lagend

It is indeed a sad day. We can still recall him starting Neelam Ghar saying ‘dekhti ankhon, sunte kanon, Tariq Aziz ka apko salam’. Here’s how Prime Minister Imran Khan and the people of Pakistan reacted to the death of Tariq Aziz.

Aziz was also the first announcer of Pakistan Television (PTV).

Pakistan lost a giant today. Aziz also acted in several Pakistani films in the late 1960s and 1970s. One of his famous movies was Salgira (1969). The successful film won two Nigar Awards for that year. A role model for many in the 80s and 90s, Aziz was awarded Pride of Performance Award by the president of Pakistan in 1992 for his services to the nation.

It seems from his last tweet that Aziz was missing the old times when life was full of hustle and bustle. May you RIP Tariq Aziz sahab. No one can replace you.
