PM Imran Khan Appoints Ali J. Siddiqui As Pakistan’s Ambassador At Large For Foreign Investments!

Ever since Imran Khan’s government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf came to power, Pakistan’s political scenario has seen a dramatic shift. With a stated manifesto of focusing on economic growth, development and focus on meritocracy, the PTI has undertaken a revamp of the manner in which we operate, and not without hue and cry from the opposition!

The latest in the series of bold yet perhaps ultimately beneficial decisions taken by the incumbent government is the appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui as Pakistan’s newest Ambassador for foreign investments.

It is pertinent to add here that Ali Jahangir came to the diplomatic limelight after he was appointed as Pakistan’s ambassador to the USA by the PML-N. Previously he was serving as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister. In a similar scenario, the Prime Minister at that time. Khaqan Abbasi had appointed Ali to the role based on a desire to go beyond traditional channels and appoint individuals to roles based on their skills and capabilities.

“The prime minister has been pleased to approve the appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui as Ambassador-at-Large for Foreign Investment in an honorary capacity with effect from June 13, 2019,” read the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notification.

Having studied at Cornell University, Ali is grounded in the business community has worked with some of the largest conglomerates in the world. He served as Chairman of JS Bank and JS Private Equity, two of Pakistan’s leading financial institutions and has collaborated for investing in a range of companies worldwide.

He is also part of the Board’s of several leading organizations and has recently joined the Board of Affiniti – the world’s largest Artificial Intelligence (AI) company which is valued at over 1 Billion Dollars.
