There are times when you want or need to do something, but you are unable to do it.
Do you know why?
We experience this state of don’t-feel-like-doing-anything on a day-to-day basis because of a strict lack of motivation. In other words, our productivity and will to achieve something, have a strong connection with motivation.
The more motivated you feel, the more focused you are on your goals. So here’s how you can overcome laziness and dejection, and feel determined to work!
1. Choose One Goal at a Time
Don’t overburden yourself with more than one task or goal. Start with one objective followed by the other, because when you are doing too much at the same time, you lose energy, focus and feel demotivated. So, pick your goals for the day, and do them one at a time.
2. Fix Incentives
Fix certain incentives for yourself when you undertake a task. This keeps you from procrastinating and helps you do things within a specific time frame! Tell yourself that you’ll eat ice-cream or watch a movie or call a friend after finishing a particular job.
Making these types of deals with yourself will help you achieve all your goals and targets as planned.
3. Don’t Share Your Aims on Social Media
Sharing your aims on social media implies getting both positive and negative feedback. Both of which can impact your determination to achieve your goals. While negative feedback may demoralize you, the bombardment of likes and effusive comments can affect your intentions by making you believe that you have already achieved your goal! Both types of responses can distract you from your aims. So, keep your objectives away from social media until you actually achieve them.
4. Leave Your Comfort Zone
Great things happen once you get out of your comfort zone. This means, you must face your challenges instead of fearing them. Overcome your fears and get started!
5. Take Failures Positively
Believe that success comes after failure. There are many people in the world who have failed many times before they succeeded. So, take failures as part and parcel of your journey and don’t allow them to dwell in your heart and mind.
6. Get Inspiration from Heroes
Have you ever observed that our heroes are usually those who started off from scratch and stumbled many times before getting huge success?
The big names like Walt Disney, J.K. Rowling, Einstein, Bill Gates, and Thomas Edison experienced many breakdowns in their lives before huge successes.
So, gain inspiration from these successful people! Read about them and discover how they achieved their aims.
7. Stop Comparing Yourself with Others
You must believe that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. So, don’t compare your accomplishments with the achievements of others. Embrace the notion that everyone is blessed with certain qualities and abilities and comparing your skills to others won’t do any good. Consider yourself blessed, and do what you love.
8. Don’t Beat Yourself Up
Sometimes we beat ourselves up too much when working towards our goals. We forget that resting and having fun is important too. In fact, taking some time off helps restore your enthusiasm and energy.
So, take a vacation when you feel completely exhausted and demotivated. Everyone deserves a break now and then!
