Karachi is a city of diversity and beauty. The city throbs with life, and the vibrancy is downright contagious. And yet, there are things about Karachi that irk us. Here are some of things about the city that annoy the life out of every Karachiite:
1. The Weather
The weather here undergoes frequent, insane mood swings. The winter isn’t really winter; it’s dry weather with occasional cool breezes. It’s going to look like it’ll rain, but it never will. And the summers? Let’s not even…
2. The Traffic
It’s a kaleidoscope of cars; left, right and center. And if you’re ever stuck at Shahrah-e-Faisal or Saddar during rush hours (and all hours are rush hours here), may God be with you.
3. The Noise
Peaceful, quiet evenings with a cup of coffee to reflect on how life has turned out? Um, no. Not happening in Karachi.

4. The Beach
We can throw the ‘We have the beach’ argument in the faces of our Lahori friends all we want, but let’s face it; not many of us like going to the Clifton Beach. (The nice ones are too far away to visit on an occasional basis)
5. The ‘iss paar’ ‘uss paar’ phenomenon
The Gulshan Defence dichotomy, basically. Yes, we’re very class conscious.

6. The water shortage
You haven’t experienced Karachi, if you haven’t had to wait hours for tankers and then pay an inflated price for it;

7. The security (or lack thereof)
You have to be extra careful and vigilant to avoid being mugged. Karachi is notorious for its unfortunate lack of security.

But here’s the thing about home; with all of its imperfections and flaws, you wouldn’t want to trade it for anything in the world.
