7 Things I Learned From F.R.I.E.N.D.S

I heard about this show for the first time from an elder cousin, who I remember back in that time, used to record the show from TV because she wanted to watch it again. I could not understand how and why a person would watch a TV series over and over again but things have changed since I have started watching the show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

For some people who have not watched this show, it might come as an absurd shock that for those who have watched it, this show has become an integral part of their lives. It would not be wrong if I say that this sit-com teaches me way too many life lessons that make my life much easier. This is how F.R.I.E.N.D.S made an impact in my life and I am sure in other fans’ lives as well.

1. You Don’t Need Too Many Friends

As long as you have a bunch of lovely weirdos by your side who would never judge you but would still make fun of you, would always support your choices no matter what, fight for you, fight with you, trust you and be your friend forever; in sickness and in health, you do not need too many people in your life. The desire of spreading the social circle completely fades away when you have already found someone who is your brother from another mother. After all, it is always about the quality, not quantity.

2. Fights Happen

If you want to test for how long a friendship would last then go fight with them and see how you bounce back from it. It does not matter how huge the fight is or how much one person hurt the other as long as you are still ready to punch someone else in the face for them. It is not the fight that ruins a relationship, it is how you overcome it that either keeps the friendship going the way it was or end up holding grudges against each other.

3. You Will Fall in Love

One day will come when you will find someone who is madly in love with you. It is not necessary for them to be exactly the way you thought they would be but you are going to love them for who they are and you would give anything for them to not change. You never know, your Chandler or your Rachel has been around you throughout and it will just it take one perfect stupid moment for you to see who they really are for you.

4. We All Love Pizza

Now who would not want a Joey’s special; two pizzas with pepperoni and extra cheese for every time you think your pants are loose. You know you do not even look at the menu for your flavors of the pizza because all you can think of are those lovely pepperonis that you could see when Joey ate his slice and never shared his food. And if for any irrational reason in the whole world, you do not feel like eating pizza then there is always a meatball sandwich as an option for you. This honestly makes me hungry.

5. You Need F.R.I.E.N.D.S When You’re Upset

There comes a time in your life when you’re upset about something and do not want to get up from your bed. Some might say that you should cheer up and you can talk to us but you know all you want to do is have some F.R.I.E.N.D.S therapy and eat your favorite food while watching it. You find it easier to just watch them fooling around rather than talking to someone about your problems and before you know, somewhere around the corner, one of Chandler’s jokes cracks you up so hard that you just forget what was wrong with you.

6. They Are Not Real (*Breaks my Heart)

As much as I hate to say this to you but it’s true. Try not getting yourself trapped in a Dissociative Personality Disorder as one of them or all six of them. If the obsession does not end at the right point you are likely to develop Schizophrenia where you will lose contact from reality and find yourself living in Monica’s apartment.

7. I’ll Be There For You

At the end, no matter how much of a control freak you are like Monica you will find a Chandler who would think all those things you do are cute. I mean not really, but he will know how to handle you. No matter how many times you have married even if the world thinks how you got all these women to marry you, you will, being as geeky as Ross, still find the most attractive girl from college; your Rachel, in a wedding gown standing in front of you. And no matter how flakey you are like Phoebe, you always have a Joey who would gladly be there for you, being as sweet and stupid as you would require him to be.
