“Surely God enjoins justice, kindness and the doing of good, to kith and kin; and He forbids all that is shameful, indecent, evil, rebellious and oppressive.” InnaAllah Yamuru bil adel, wal ehsane, wa itae zil qurba; wa yanha anil fuhshae, wal munkari walbaghi; yaizukhum lallakum tazakkaroon. (Quran 16:90)
In the light of Quran, watching porn is a dirty habit and that can be easily concluded while reading the above-stated verse from the holy Quran.
“Tell the believing men to reduce some of their looks and guard their private parts, because that is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they are trying to do.” (24:30)
While the addiction or watching porn, for both, men and women can lead to serious sins, there are ways one can prevent themselves from feeding such an addiction.
Jihad of the Nafs is indeed the most important, yet the difficult jihad. However, controlling the sexual urges and desires is what makes one battle this particular jihad.
Here Are a Few Tips That Can Allow One to Control their Desires of Watching Porn
1. Lower Your Gaze
Be it someone from the television or your laptop screen, if you are getting a sexual arousal, lower your gaze and divert your attention. Preventing yourself in this situation is better than treatment.
2. Avoid Being Alone if You Cannot Control Yourself
If you think no one is watching you while you are alone, God indeed sees everything. Adopt a new hobby, hang out with friends and family, spend time with someone, just to be sure that you are trying to divert your mind from such thoughts that will lead you back to watching porn.
3. Limit Your Internet Usage
Porn is only accessible through the internet. Use the internet when only there’s something related to your work or an emergency. If you cannot control your urges, start using the internet in family rooms of your home rather than in your in your private room.
4. Think About Getting Married

This does not mean that you only should get married because you cannot control your sexual urges. According to the Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), the youth which can afford to get married should do so. Marriage is a sunnah which secures the ummah from such desires and provides protection to the chastity.
5. Reduce Your Bad Company
People are friends with those who have access to porn on their smartphones. You must avoid this sort of company, for they may pull you back to these wrongful activities.
6. Fast More Often
According to the Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), fasting act as a shield for those who cannot marry. Not only does fasting reward you, but it also allows you to stay away from sinful activities.
