Gender inequality was never seriously considered a social issue until the 1980s when the feminist movement prospered, thankfully. It was then when females started spreading awareness and fighting for the rights which they were previously deprived of. However, gender inequality is still considered merely a women’s issue rather than an issue for all genders. There are certain reasons why gender equality can help everyone.

It is a huge misapprehension because feminism is equally beneficial for all genders. Let’s discuss a few of the numerous reasons why gender equality can benefit and help everyone in our society.

1- Better training of children

An African proverb says, “If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.” This means that mothers have far more influence on their children than fathers. If that influence is positive, the remarkable results can last until centuries! After all, the investment in female education is investing in the future with never-ending profit.

2- Happier relationships

Gender bias also affects the parent-child relationship. From an early age, daughters grow up with the complex of being inferior to their brothers. As they grow up, this complex turns into defiance and controversy. This ruins the relationship between both parents and daughters, as well as sisters and brothers. Also, gender inequality in married couples can increase the friction between their relationship and chances of divorce.

Therefore, if we eliminate sexism, the defiance and controversy can turn into love and peace. The quality of relationships can tremendously improve.

3- More history-makers

Great personalities, which are the ideals of many people, actually have a lasting impact on them. However, they are quite limited these days and we need more of them. Unfortunately, we fail to realize that many girls have the audacity to benefit the world at large. But they are caged due to gender biases; if only they would be able to rise, they would tremendously avail the world and create role models for others.

I can not phrase it better than Emma Watson “Women share this planet 50/50 and they are underrepresented—their potential astonishingly untapped.”

4- Increase in the finance of a country

Research ultimately proves that countries that have an active female workforce have a substantially better economy than those that don’t. Companies managed by females are reported to be more productive, though the reasons are not apparent. The number of families in poverty also decreases due to educated women. As they wait longer to get married and have fewer children.

Therefore, Michelle Obama says, “No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens.”

To conclude, I say that gender inequality is not only beneficial for us but an urgent and critical matter. Talking about Pakistan, it is the fourth worst country for women and it may be one of the great reasons for the decline of our country, but surprisingly, people even fail to notice it!
